Eighteen years of keeping things up

I started building websites in Houston and never stopped adding layers underneath them. Today that means a broadcast origin, a telephone network, three SaaS platforms and a CAD engine — plus the Linux boxes, the backups and the 2am pages when something goes wrong.

Most of what I know came from operating systems rather than reading about them. I have watched a bitrate ladder collapse, found a call-record race condition hiding under three layers of signal handling, and rebuilt a material takeoff after discovering the estimate disagreed with the drawing. That work is documented publicly, including the mistakes.

Common questions

Do you build streaming servers from scratch?

Yes. I design and run complete video and audio streaming stacks starting from a bare Linux server: ingest, transcoding, Wowza Streaming Engine integration, LL-HLS packaging with multi-rendition adaptive bitrate ladders, origin and edge delivery, TLS, DNS and monitoring. I currently operate a 24/7 multi-channel broadcast origin serving the United States and Latin America.

Do you work with Wowza Streaming Engine?

Yes. I architect and integrate Wowza for live and on-demand delivery — ingest configuration, transcoder setup, adaptive bitrate output, and connecting it to the origin and CDN layers underneath. I can build a Wowza deployment from nothing, or take over one that already exists and is misbehaving.

Can you set up a phone system with call recording?

Yes. Multi-tenant Asterisk PBX with per-tenant dialplans, schedule and holiday routing, SIP trunking, and an optional AI receptionist that answers in Spanish and English. I also design and deploy server-side call recording and archival on infrastructure you control, covering storage layout, retention policy and retrieval.

Do you take on systems that are already broken?

Often. A large part of my work is diagnosing production systems built by someone else — streaming stacks that silently drop renditions, phone systems that lose call records, platforms where the numbers on screen disagree with the database. I find the cause and document it rather than papering over it.

Where are you based, and do you work remotely?

Houston, Texas. Most of my clients are elsewhere — I work remotely across the United States and Latin America, and everything I build ships in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
